Dr Zwe Mann Zaw Win

Myanmar pianist Dr. Zwè straddles between Classical and Jazz music, applying his background in classical piano technique to his virtuosic Jazz improvisations.

He started learning piano at the age of 7 with Naw El Shee Taw, and continued learning with the legendary Burmese pianist, Sandayar Myoe Naing at the age of 11. He continued studying to master jazz under guidance of Austrian maestro Mr. Göesta Müeller, a professor of piano and double bass at the Conservatory of Innsbruck in cooperation with Mozarteum Music University Salzburg, Music University of Vienna & School of Music Völs.

Dr. Zwè is a musician of many merits, and also an internationally award-winning pianist in classical piano. As a performer, he has been working as a professional pianist with various local artists in a variety of sound worlds, especially in the popular music industry for almost a decade. He currently plays a key role in the Bamboo trio, renowned for being the best exclusive jazz band and pioneer of the jazz scene in Myanmar. As a classical pianist, he works with his piano quartet called Blendybees. As a composer, he’s working on his original compositions of fusion jazz for the debut album of Bamboo trio.

Dr Zwe is passionate about passing on his knowledge and skills to the next generation, and he works as an private piano instructor and head of piano faculty at the MEBC music academy. He conducts jazz music appreciation classes and workshops to share his knowledge, theories, analysis, and techniques.
