Rachel Ho

Singaporean flutist Rachel Ho has been praised by The Straits Times for her “lovely flute solo gliding the melody as an added voice, making the aria especially poignant” during her performance with Masaaki Suzuki, a leading authority on the works of JS Bach.
As a flute soloist, Rachel won 2nd prize at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (YSTCM) Concerto Competition (Wind/Brass/Harp/Percussion category) in 2017. She has performed in masterclasses by renowned flautists such as Emmanuel Pahud, András Adorján and Vincent Lukas. She also attended the 2016 Domaine Forget International Music Festival in Canada and 2017 Music Alp International Academy of Music in France.

She has also performed with Masaaki Suzuki and the Queensland Conservatorium faculty members in 2016.
Her outstanding performance led her to be selected for a semester on exchange at the Peabody Conservatory, studying with Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Principal Flutist Emily Skala. She also had the opportunity to study the baroque flute with Gwyn Roberts, founder of the early music group Tempesta di Mare and was part of the Baltimore Baroque Band.
Rachel believes that music has the power to change lives, and aims to continue to share the joy of music with the wider community. She has organized a number of charity performances at hospitals and Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped. She was also selected as one of the two representatives from YSTCM to participate in the New Audiences and Innovative Programme (NAIP) courses in Vienna and Iceland where students from various schools learn how to facilitate and engage the audience with the music they make. Rachel has facilitated creative music workshops with kidsphilharmonic@sg, ‘Superhero Me’ and curated a music and drama programme, ‘Take Flight’ in conjunction with NAC and T’ang Quartet at Singapore Girls’ Home.
