San Win Htike

San Win Htike is a Burmese violinist, he started studying violin at the age of 5. At the age of 14, he
auditioned to Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore and was accepted to the Young Artist
Programme, and he advanced to Bachelor degree at the age of 17.
During his studies in Israel, he was able to expand himself even more as a musician, freelancing with
orchestras such as Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Tel-Aviv Soloist Chamber Orchestra and Camerit
Chamber Orchestra. In 2017 he was the Concertmaster in the Gala Concert conducted by Maestro Zubin
Mehta, he also won 2nd prize in the Buchmann Mehta String Competition in that same year. San Win Htike finished his Masters degree in violin performance in 2018, in Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, Tel Aviv University in Israel.
As a passionate violinist since a young age, San Win Htike has been involved in the music scene in
Myanmar, he debuted in his first concert in Myanmar as the second violin solo in Bach Double Violin
Concerto in 2004 at the age of 10. Since then he has performed in many more concerts, most notably in
2016, he was invited as the soloist to play in the concert 50 years of friendship between Singapore and
Myanmar, playing a Violin Concerto written by a Singaporean composer Chen Zhang Yi.
San Win Htike’s teachers include Zhang You Yu, Mathias Boegner, Alexander Souptel, Eyal Kless and Yair
Kless. He has also played in Masterclasses with Julian Rachlin, Gil Shaham and Christian Tetzlaff. He was
awarded full scholarship from both Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music and Buchmann Mehta School
of Music.
With his passion for teaching, he has given workshops and small recitals in Legacy Music Center,
Mandalay Gitameit in Myanmar. He has taught in Wolfgang violin studio in Singapore, and has helped
many of his students to participate in competitions in Indonesia, Japan and Singapore.
He is playing on an 1880 Audinot violin on loan from the Rin Collection.
